The Brazilian Cultural Club of Detroit was founded on March 19th, 1983. Its founding members were Marcia Alberts, Larry Raizman, Dione Azevedo and Babini. The founders sought to create the club to promote understanding and cultural exchange between Brazilians and people of other cultures in Metro Detroit. Presently, the club has 163 members with upwards of 250 individuals attending our social events.
Annually, we celebrate with a Feijoada Dinner and dance; the Carnaval with traditional live music, dancing and costumes; a Summer picnic; and holliday parties around Christmas and Hanukkah. In addition, we have special events surrounding activities like the World Cup to provide a venue where many Brazilians in Metro Detroit can celebrate together.
